  • 1 (12) ounce bag fresh cranberries
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup fresh squeezed orange juice
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3 cinnamon sticks, or 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp ground cloves
  1. Rinse cranberries in a colander, removing any bruised and damaged cranberries.

  2. Combine the water and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until sugar has dissolved and water is boiling.

  3. Once dissolved add cranberries, orange juice, cinnamon sticks, and ground cloves. Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, until cranberries begin to burst and a thick sauce has formed about 10 minutes.

  4. Remove from heat, remove cinnamon sticks and let cool completely to room temperature. The sauce will thicken as it cools.

  5. Serve at room temperature.
