- 4 Morningstar Original Chik Patties
- 4 hamburger buns
- 2 small yellow onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp. olive oil
- pinch of salt
- 4 slices vegan mozzarella-style cheese, optional
- large handful fresh arugula
- 1 large tomato, cut into thick slices
- ¼ cup BBQ sauce
Preheat the oven (or a grill) to 375 F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place 4 MorningStar Chik Patties in a single layer. Top each patty with a slice of vegan cheese (optional), and bake for 15-18 minutes until the patties are crispy and the cheese has melted.
Meanwhile, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add sliced onions and sauté on low for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add a pinch of salt and continue to cook for an additional 10-20 minutes until onions are caramel colored and fragrant.
To assemble the sandwiches, place arugula on the bottom of each bun. Top with a slice of tomato, chik'n pattie, caramelized onions, and BBQ sauce. Serve immediately with your favorite BBQ side dishes
