What happened to “The Sweet Life”?
When I began blogging in 2012, I had never read a blog before. I had no idea what I was doing or what was about to happen. When it came to naming my blog I used the first thing that came to my mind, “The Sweet Life”, a phrase we used often in the baking profession. Because The Sweet Life is not the most unique name out there, I had to get creative. This resulted in having a blog name, a URL, a Twitter handle, and an Instagram name that were all a little bit different, which as I grew, became a bit of a nightmare. I knew that I needed to do something and although I dreaded doing it, finally I took the lunge and re-branded. After a lot of thought, I am now My Darling Vegan. Read the full story of why this happened here.
Why “The Darling Vegan”?
If it wasn’t for my daughter Eden I wouldn’t be blogging. I probably still would never have read a food blog and I would definitely still be working at a grocery store. In 2012 when Eden came along, I was given the opportunity to stay at home with her and in those early days, with creative juices running wild, I started blogging. In rebranding I thought long and hard about the name and ultimately decided to dedicated this blog to the girl who changed my life – my darling vegan – the girl who has made me entirely better version of myself.
Why do you choose a vegan lifestyle?
Great question! After being asked this question many times, I took the time to answer in a three-part series. Check it out here.
I’m looking for gluten-free/vegan recipes. Do you have any?
I make a lot of gluten-free recipes. Here is a link to a complete list.
I’m a new vegan. Do you have any tips?
I have an entire resource section on this blog dedicated to books, blogs, products, and ingredients I use on a regular basis. I encourage you to look through these pages. You can also always email me at sarah @ mydarlingvegan (dot) com with any questions.
What can I use instead of eggs?
I’m glad you asked. I have an article on replacing eggs here. If you have any specific questions, just contact me.
I heard sugar isn’t vegan. Can I find vegan sugar?
Most granulated sugar is not vegan, however there are some great organic vegan sugars out there. This is the sugar I always buy.
They make doughnut pans?! Where can I get one? (I’m asked this more than you would guess)
Yes, they do. And it’s one of the best purchases I’ve ever made for under $6. You can find a link to one here along with some of my other favorite kitchen gadgets.
Can I re-post your recipe on my blog?
I LOVE when people share my recipes, but please do not re-post them on your blog. You can link to them on your blog but I do not like my recipes floating around the internet. Feel free to use one photo if you want to directly link it back to my blog, but do not remove the watermark.
Do you do book/product reviews on My Darling Vegan?
Yes! I really enjoy doing book and product reviews as long as the products I’m reviewing are 100% vegan. Contact me for more information.
Have you written any cookbooks?
Do you sell ad spots on your website?
I currently have a few sidebar spots open for advertising. I am only interested in products and companies that support vegan and sustainable living. For more information, check out my advertising page.
